Abirami Andhadhi

Abirami the presiding deity of Thirukadaiyur is very powerful. She fulfills the deserving desires of Her devotees. It is said that the Devas forgot to offer the holy amrita to Lord Ganesa. Ganesa took and hid the amirta pot here. Then Lord Ganesa created a Shiva lingam and did abhishekam dedicated to His father and mother, thus that Shiva lingam is named as Amrita Ghatesshwarar meaning Lord who leads to immortality. famous Markandeya also got the boon of Chiranjeevi here.

Abirami pattar when asked the thithi on an amavasai day by the King, our Abirami pattar while meditating Ambals face to feet said purnami is the thithi. King got angry and said if the moon is not coming by this evening, pattar will be given death punishment.

Abirami pattar sang this famous Abirami andhadhi and Devi Abirami appeared and threw Her stud to create a beautiful bright moon.

Abirami Andhadhi is very powerful sloka which can be chanted everyday to achieve all types of goodness in life. Let’s see sloka by sloka.

Vedanta

Everything witnessed by Consciousness ie Jagrata Svapna & Susupti is Maya.

Avarna Shakti conceals Brahman leading to Vikshepa or projection of Prapanca ie the Universe, which is Mithya but appears as Real because the substratum on which it is projected is real ie Brahman. Brahman alone exists and the Ignorance of jiva perceives it as real, whereas it’s not so like a snake on a rope. Vikshepa is like gold becoming ornaments or earth pots.

Jiva is a victim of Maya while Isvara the master of it. When by His Grace the Upadhi of Ignorance is removed, Isvara & Jiva become Identical, like Ghatakasa & Mahakasa after the pot is broken.

Difficult to Understand 

But can be experienced only by the Grace of God which is induced by Bhakti ie when all indriyas prana Manas buddhi & Chitta are dedicated to Him by the Effacement of Ahankara or Ego viz Me & Mine.
